We’re stoked to have it confirmed that our programmes in Digital Marketing, Healthcare Management, and Hospitality Management are reflective of the top jobs ads today in New Zealand.
According to the media release by Seek on 17 June 2016, 8.9 per cent more jobs advertised across the country on Seek in May 2016 than 12 months ago. Industries that showed strong year on year job ad volumes and growth across New Zealand are:
- Marketing and Communications, up 33 per cent
- Trades and Services, up 17 per cent
In an earlier release, Seek NZ General Manager Janet Faulding said from October 2014 they saw the Wellington job market really stagnate. “The job market in our nation’s capital is now on the up, with job ads from March to April on SEEK showing growth across most industries.”
She added that, “The fastest growing industry in Wellington has been Marketing and Communications, with a 95 per cent jump in SEEK job ads when compared to April 2015. Even though Marketing and Communications is a small employing industry in Wellington, it’s great to see such positive growth.”
In Marketing and Communications, the candidates most in demand are:
- Internal Communication Specialists
- Marketing and Communication Managers
- Marketing Assistants and Coordinators
Taking a look at what people are earning in this industry, the average Marketing and Communications salary for April across Wellington is $82,055, which is above the national April average of $78,536.
In Auckland, job ads were up 9.5 per cent in May compared to the previous year.
- Marketing and Communication – up 31 per cent
- Trades and Services – up 24 per cent.
Industries in Queenstown and Wanaka that have boomed over the last 12 months include Hospitality and Tourism.
“The Queenstown and Wanaka region is fast becoming a year-round tourist destination, so facilities and amenities are required to support the population influx, and as a result we’re seeing more jobs advertised on SEEK to support these developments,” Faulding explained.
Looking at what people are earning in across Queenstown and Wanaka, the average salaries are $54,761 for Trades & Services and $56,920 for Hospitality & Tourism roles.
These reports clearly show that our Digital Marketing, International Marketing, Health Management, and Hospitality Management students get the applied education required to meet the job market in New Zealand.
