Bruno, Digital Marketing student, talks about career and his experience at NZIE.
The Digital Marketing Programme
In the Digital Marketing Programme I’ve learnt how international markets behave, how to overcome cultural and social barriers, how to speak to all the most distinct audiences in the digital universe, as well as the technical part. I never had the chance to learn that during my University Degree.
Today I feel confident to run any sort of Digital Marketing initiative. I can work on FaceBook, Google Ads and Analytics, create a website from scratch, design email marketing campaigns, SEO, SEM, etc.
Your favourite area of Digital Marketing
My main passion is website development, but today I’m able to integrate other areas of digital marketing into that, which is what the employers want.
In such a short time frame (since starting the programme 6 months ago), the programme gave me not only the ability to create websites, but to work with great digital design tools and concepts and be able to develop great and modern websites and e-commerce platforms that are linked to all essential areas of digital marketing.
The tutors are sensational! They are not just academic teachers, they are actual industry professionals, which changes the dynamic of classes and our way of interacting with them. They work alongside us, as true business/marketing mentors, who have huge amount of expertise which they bring to the class.
The classes are small, around 14 people, which makes it very interactive and personal. It’s nice to have great a mix of nationalities in class. There are 7 different nationalities in my class, which showcases the reality of what current New Zealand’s workplaces are like. That also makes it more interesting and helps us get more marketing insights from several cultural viewpoints.
Your Job and Internship
I’ve been working part-time since when I arrived in NZ to help with my living costs. But I wanted to start practicing my Digital Marketing skills as soon as possible, so I spoke to Think Recruit who connected me with a local Digital Marketing company that opened the doors for me and hired me as an intern.
It’s been a great experience and is helping me enrich my portfolio, by implementing the work that we produce in class. Now I’m also connected with another Digital Marketing company discussing the details of a job opportunity that may happen in the next couple of weeks.
Your Future in Digital Marketing
The Digital Marketing industry is a fast growing industry worldwide, but it is lacking on qualified professionals who encompass all areas of Digital Marketing.
I’m confident that I made the right choice and I see a lot of opportunities ahead, not only in New Zealand, but with the freedom to work anywhere in the world.
