It’s Feature Friday time!
In case you’ve been living under a rock and aren’t quite sure what #FeatureFriday is all about – it gives us the chance to introduce you to some of the awesome students studying at NZIE. We’ve got a colourful and interesting bunch of students that are always up to amazing things.
This week, I got the chance to catch up with the guys from ‘The Mobster’.
The name may sound a little mysterious, but don’t be fooled, they’re downright hilarious dudes.
Part of the team is analytics guru – Kris, web designer and developer – Jesus, & graphic designer – Richard. The three musketeers, as I like to call them, met each other through NZIE’s digital marketing diploma.
Hailing from the Philippines, they made the decision to study Digital Marketing in New Zealand to gain some skills in the industry.
They began ‘The Mobster’ Instagram profile which encompasses digital marketing tips, motivational advice, and quotes.
I got the guys to explain what The Mobster is all about.
“Mobster is all about attitude. Being a successful brand is all about creating a quality connection with your audience. They need something that they can latch on to and Mobster brings this ‘no fuzz’ ‘we mean business’ but ‘we are still very much approachable’ attitude to the table for people to relate to. Of course, we are looking to be an entity that will eventually offer services around each of our speciality areas but for now, we are basically just making noise on social media.”
They were clearly doing something right. Within just a few weeks of posting, their profile boasted over 600 followers – and it’s growing. It’s easy to see why – their content is interesting, informative, and entertaining, all while staying true to their ‘mobster’ theme.
Check out their Instagram page for yourself:
All three guys are enjoying their time studying at NZIE, and are keen to get more experience in the industry to hopefully one day start The Mobster as a digital marketing agency.
As Kris said, “It would be a dream come true if we can make Mobster ‘the digital marketing agency’ a reality. We have plans of penetrating the industry and making a name for ourselves but that may still be a long way to go. We still have a lot to learn and still have a ton of experience to go through before we can start to put the pieces together, but I can confidently say we are on the right track. We have mentors that help us and our internship is turning out to be very enlightening. So, yes, we are heading in that direction.”
There’s no doubt they’re on the road to success, with Kris, and Jesus landing internships at digital marketing agency – Rocketshp.
They say that NZIE has been a big part of their success.
“This has been a rollercoaster ride for us. I never realised that Digital Marketing was this massive and that it would take a lot to ease our way into the industry. I think it was the balance of theoretical and practical activities that made it all achievable. I really thought I was not capable of learning this much stuff in such a short time. Having industry experts as tutors helped a lot as well. We’re not only learning how to do things, we’re learning how to do things the right way and that gives us a solid foundation when we formally immerse ourselves in the Digital Marketing community.”
The Mobster has already gained traction on Instagram within a couple weeks, there’s no telling how far they may go within the next year!
Don’t forget to give The Mobster a follow on Instagram to keep up with their wicked content.
