“As we all know, education is the core of success. Teaching is a selfless way of life, the more time you spend in the education system the more you become better at tutoring. As a tutor you can encourage budding or mature students to excel in their education, enhance their skills and achieve success in their professional life.” – Lasma Zorgenberga (Digital Marketing Tutor, NZIE)

Background

My name is Lasma Zorgenberga. Over the last six years I have dedicated my professional career to digital marketing. In addition research into changes of the digital workforce.

Education and life-long learning has always been very close to me. My family heritage is connected to teaching. For example, my mother being a teacher, my grandmother being a teacher and grandad educational institution director. Hence why, it is not surprising that I have decided to become a tutor too. Specifically to lead the change of digital marketing through the delivery of SEO and Data Analytics courses at NZIE.

During 2020 we saw a big shift in ways we work, learn, and educate. Last term allowed me to experience a range of emotions as a digital-classroom tutor. For instance, I felt pride in student achievement; relief in completing a major task; happiness from engaging interactions with students. Moreover I also felt frustration with roadblocks that stand in the way of student success. Additionally worried about how students will overcome any obstacles that may get in their way.

Transition into full-time teaching role

With Term 3, I have decided to join NZIE full-time and continue delivering Search Engine Optimisation, Search Engine Marketing and Data Analytics courses at NZIE.

I want to help future generations solve the problems of today.
I believe that being a tutor gives you the opportunity to propel students to greater heights. The students in our classrooms will be the people who will lead the change of digital, create the technologies and systems to make our lives more comfortable. As well as help businesses adapt to future changes that applied science discoveries may bring.

I want to be a part of my community’s decision-making processes. I truly believe that teachers hold a certain authority: they know how students learn, and they usually have a very deep understanding of what is best for students in order to ensure they thrive. I want to assist and help guide the New Zealand community’s decision-making and ensure we have a strong work-force that is ready to take on-board any challenges that eruptive change may bring.

Conclusion

I truly believe that teaching is a rewarding role in our society. As teachers we always need to be learning new things. We often talk about the importance of learning with students more than directly teaching. If you set a student a task, you’ll be sending them out to gather as much information on the topic as possible. They’ll often come back with new knowledge and you will want to praise them for teaching you something new

If you are ready to advance your career in Digital Marketing. I would encourage you to enroll at NZIE’s Online Digital Marketing Diploma or 7-weeks SEO Micro Credentials course. While studying, make sure you take advantage of the wide variety of Digital Marketing internships we also offer.
