My Business Programme
When I first started my business course majoring in Hospitality Management, my biggest challenge was doing all my studies in English for the first time in my life. It felt hard in the beginning but with the support of my classmates and teachers I quickly got used to it and now the use of the English language has become natural.
When I passed this stage of adapting to the language, I started to enjoy my business studies, I’ve learned a lot about business and also accounting, which were new to me, as I come from a politics background in South Korea.
I’ve studied Hospitality Management at NZIE and now I’m doing my internship in the Auckland City Hotel as part of the programme. Here I can learn a little bit of everything they do in hotel and front desk management. It definitely brings more value that just studying the theory.
At the hotel I feel very supported and I’m a valued member of the team. They teach me and provided me with a lot of resources I need for a great learning experience.
Antonia from Think Recruit helped me a lot with finding my internship, she was always available when I needed.
3 thinks I linked the most in my Business course
The 3 things I enjoyed the most about NZIE were:
- Having an internship was the best. I really enjoyed the fact my course gave me this practical experience
- Studying in a multicultural environment. I had classmates coming from many parts of the world. All with different types of cultures and backgrounds. I not only learnt about business in school, but I learnt about different cultures and how to better understand them. That for me was a fantastic life experience.
- The tutors and the student support. The tutors were very knowledgeable and the staff was always helpful. Whenever I had any difficulty or struggles, I could go to my teachers or to the student services room and they always provided me with great support.
I recommend NZIE
I would definitely recommend NZIE to my friends or to anyone who wants to study business majoring in Hospitality Management and wants some practical experience in New Zealand.
