The model displays elements Hauora (well-being): \u2018te whare tapa wh\u0101\u2019 \u2013 the four cornerstones (or sides) of M\u0101ori health.<\/p>
NZIE have added a 5th<\/sup> element:<\/p> Pictured below is a diagram of Te Whare Tapa Wh\u0101:<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t The Client Success Team use this model when consulting a student in need: they may require assistance in areas of academic performance, wellbeing, career opportunities or with cultural connections.<\/p> Each member of the Client Success Team will determine which of these areas in the Te Whare Tapa Wh\u0101 is missing or damaged and will use the appropriate tools and resources to strengthen them.<\/p> NZIE also utilises the Tuakana-Teina relationship and mentor model. This is where graduates or students further down the course can partner with newer students for additional support.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t All NZIE staff members are guided by our Cultural Advisor Terehia Walker<\/a> and her husband Ngahiwi Walker<\/a> in M\u0101ori practices and principles.
