\u201cSo much can change in a year.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p> Wellington-based social media strategist Georgia Mae has had a \u201cwhirlwind\u201d 12 months \u2013 and came full circle on Monday night when she featured as a guest speaker in NZIE\u2019s Social Media class, from which she graduated less than 6 months prior.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p> She made the risk in 2021 to change careers from Graphic Design to Digital Marketing. Since upskilling with NZIE\u2019s\u00a0Digital Marketing Diploma<\/a>, Georgia has landed a full-time role at <\/span>Blackjet,<\/span><\/a> a boutique social media management company in Wellington.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t After studying graphic design at University, Georgia was working in-house with several architecture firms. But, she felt that something was missing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p> \u201cSomething that we did a lot in graphic design studies was strategizing and planning, but when you’re working in-house or on a project for a brand…you don\u2019t get to do that as much. I missed the strategy part of it. I was looking around at what kind of job involved all of these aspects. Digital marketing ticked all of the boxes.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t She considered studying Digital Marketing at University but didn\u2019t feel \u2018inspired\u2019 by the thought of another 3-year degree.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p> After researching Digital Marketing Courses, she came across NZIE.
