Geni McCallum is an illustrator, photographer, graphic designer, writer, producer, podcaster and marketing consultant with over thirteen years of marketing and content creation experience in various industries.
Self-described as “a creative who thrives on challenges in many different mediums.” Geni likes to work for companies with great purpose, who have interesting stories to tell.
Check out the interview below to learn a bit more about our Digital Marketing tutor.
Above image is courtesy of Trinity McSkudder.

I’m the tutor for DDM708, which is Content Marketing and Media.
Content creation and digital marketing strategy.
I’ve got two more papers left of my BA in psychology and a minor in education. I’ve taught ages from 4 to 18. I also have a background of being creative. I started out in fine arts and then went into web design and graphic design and photography and film. And I’m a writer as well. So all of those things really help to allow you to be a pretty fast and efficient content creator. Otherwise, you just end up with a lot of stock imagery. I’ve done a lot of activism stuff as well. If people Google me, they’re gonna find that I really liked science. And I also run a charity called Frankly Productions; it’s a podcast about sex education for teenagers.
To implore people to create content that is high quality. Instead of trying to churn things out quickly, I guess I always make it from a purpose based storytelling version. I think that we’re moving past just pushing products. More consumers want to know about what’s happening behind the scenes. I want to make sure students understand that and look at the ethics and values involved in marketing.
I’m almost six foot. I also lived in France for a year when I was 15. So I can speak French relatively well.
Petting my cat. I also have a 15-year-old daughter, so I do stuff with her. We go to markets, we’re both mostly plant-based.
Take a breath before you make decisions. Sometimes you’ll get critiques that can be quite hard to deal with. Just take a breath before you decide how to reply. And how to go forward. It all passes.
You can check out Geni’s portfolio at https://www.genimccallum.com/.

What is your role in a nutshell?
