The Ins and Out of learning Social Media Marketing

Social media diploma

Did someone say no essays?

That’s right! Did you know that our Level 5 Social Media Marketing Diploma offers students the flexibility to submit their assessments in any format that works for them? As long as students cover the prerequisites of the brief, they can choose to submit a conversation with their tutor, a presentation, or even a dossier! We strive to ensure that our students have the flexibility to submit their assessments in a way that suits their learning style. Why? Because not everybody can do their best work in writing.

A Practical Focus

“You might be editing some video footage, or you might be using a new AI tool, but whatever it is, in every class we try to get you to make something. So, it’s very practical!”

In our Level 5 Diploma, you’ll find the classes very hands-on. We provide students with industry-standard experiences, using software tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite, and even touching on AI tools like ChatGPT. We take students through tasks such as creating style guides in Photoshop, editing video content in Premiere Pro, and creating ad campaigns using AI tools. Beyond software tools, we also cover platforms for managing paid ads, preparing our students for real-world scenarios. While our Level 7 Diploma covers various topics, the Level 5 Diploma delves deeply into social media, providing extensive knowledge and understanding in specific areas.

Tutor’s POV

Within this diploma, you’ll find it more practical-based and a calmer learning environment. Our tutor Matt Wort, who started teaching Level 5 this year, shares his experiences in the classes:

“Usually, a lot of the assessments are focused on the individual, but in our Diploma in Social Media Marketing, we have group assessments where you work together to complete creative tasks such as creating social media reports in InDesign, investigating current and future technologies, and participating in ongoing discussions. You get to make connections with people like you would in the real world. The bonus is that the classes are smaller, which means you get more dedicated time with the tutor for constructive feedback.”

We foster a sense of community by including more group assessments, giving our students a taste of real-world scenarios where teamwork is essential.

We’re not your average educational institution.

At NZIE, we prioritize practicality over tradition. Instead of using the conventional A-F grading scale, we evaluate our students with a pass/fail system and provide opportunities for resubmission. We want our students to understand the task at hand, receive constructive feedback, and keep growing and improving!

Why Social Media?

Choosing a career is never easy, but a career in social media allows our students to step into a dynamic yet creative field while also being financially stable. Here are a few points that may attract others to explore this pathway:

  • It’s an ideal career choice for those interested in technology and the evolving digital world.
  • There is significant growth potential in roles such as content creator, marketing coordinator, social media manager, etc., with appealing salaries ranging from $60,000 to $120,000.
  • Social media marketing skills are in demand across almost every industry, allowing professionals to work in areas they are passionate about.

A career in social media marketing may look easy, but it isn’t. It’s driven by data, strategy, and other key components that our diploma can guide you through. We aim to ensure our students graduate with a strong background, ready to enter a workforce where social media marketing is essential in today’s business strategies.

“I think what this diploma teaches people is that the goal is to make social media marketing look effortless. Behind the scenes, we have a clear strategy, test multiple variations, and use as much data as possible to develop our ads or content to fit our audience. The fact that it looks fun and effortless is because we’re working so hard.”
