How to get your professional development course funded.

professional development course funding options

Looking for ways to get your professional development course funded? We understand that funding your professional development costs, out of your own pocket, isn’t always an easily accessible option. That’s why at NZIE we’ve partnered with different providers to try and make the payment process a little less painful on your bank account! Check out the following options we currently have available. Get in touch if you have any questions on how to proceed with any of the below suggestions.

Funding options and ideas for your professional development course

Option 1: Activate Tāmaki Makaurau

Auckland businesses can now access the ‘Activate Tamakai Makaurau’ funds to use towards our strategy short courses at NZIE. However, Activate Tāmaki Makaurau funding is limited and not guaranteed. Until your business has successfully registered, requested a proposal/quote, and had their funding applications approved. To read up on the step-7 process with NZIE check out our article below.

Check out Activate Tāmakai Makaurau funding here.

Option 2: Buy Now Pay Later through Genopay

Secondly, another payment option you can look into for course funding our is Genopay. Unfortunately, it is not available for our Digital Marketing Diploma as it exceeds the maximum payment amount. But Genopay is perfect for funding our strategy short courses.

When going through Genopay you can choose to pay over 10-weekly instalments. However, this is subject to your approved account limit as Genopay T&Cs apply.

See Genopay details here

Option 3: Fees Free scheme

In need of funding for our Digital Marketing Diploma? Fees Free is targeted at first-time learners. As in those who have not previously studied in tertiary education before. Or exceeded over 60 credits at Level 3 or higher in New Zealand. Consequently, if this is you, then you may be able to get 1-2 year’s study or training Fees Free.

This option is great for getting your professional development course funded 100%. Especially if you aren’t eligible, by location, for the Activate Tāmaki Makaurau funding.

Option 4: Student Loan from Studylink

Currently, all of our programmes are NZQA-accredited. However, at this stage, Studylink is only available for the Diploma in Digital Marketing programme. Through Studylink you can apply for a student loan and student allowance plus course-related costs.

The best part about getting out a student loan is that it is interest-free. As long as you live in New Zealand. Plus you don’t have to start paying it back until you are earning a salary or wages above a certain threshold. For the most up to date information, Inland Revenue has full student loan repayment details here.

To see if you’re able to access Studylink services check your Studylink eligibility. Before going ahead with Studylink make sure you chat to our recruitment advisor first. As you’ll also need to see if you meet the course entry criteria requirements, too.

Check your Studylink eligibility here.
If it turns out you’re not eligible for Studylink chat to us and we will see how we can help.

Option 5: Convince your Manager to pay for your professional development

Believe it or not but this method of payment is becoming more and more popular. Especially with recent students who have enrolled into our programmes. Most noteworthy, not just for our strategy short courses either. For instance, we’ve had employers funding and supporting students who study the yearlong Diploma in Digital Marketing, too. Therefore, if you need help with convincing your boss, read up on the below article. Then get your persuasion skills ready to convince!
