Caroline Cao

Marketing Professional

Caroline, the marketing coordinator at Kiwi Car Loans, recently completed NZIE’s SEO Strategy course, which was paid for by her boss. In this blog post, we’ll explore Caroline’s experience studying SEO at NZIE. Plus, how she’s been able to use her new skills to benefit her company and her plans for upskilling further.

The Best Part of Taking the SEO Course

Caroline’s company was outsourcing their SEO; paying over $40,000 per year to have their website optimized. When Caroline stumbled upon NZIE’s SEO course, she approached her boss and asked him to sponsor her to take the course. As a result, Kiwi Car Loans can complete their SEO in-house, thanks to Caroline’s new knowledge!

Caroline’s Role and Company

Caroline’s role as marketing coordinator involves managing her company’s social media accounts, like Facebook and Instagram, and doing some design work. Kiwi Car Loans is a car finance broker that helps clients apply for car finance and broker cars. With the new skills she’s gained from the SEO course, she’s now able to manage the company’s website and optimize it for search engines.

Caroline’s Experience Studying SEO

Previously, Caroline completed her Master’s degree in Business Management with a major in Marketing at Massey University. However, she only learned about SEO from studying with NZIE.

“When I studied the Master’s degree, we did a lot of research into marketing and competitors. We didn’t learn about search engine marketing or optimization. I’m so happy that learnt SEO with NZIE! The course was perfect.”

The SEO course exceeded her expectations. In the beginning, she was nervous and unsure if 7 weeks was enough time to learn SEO, as she previously knew “nothing”.

“Before I started, I felt stressed; Will I learn something from them? Will I finish my assignments on time?
Thankfully, I found the structure was great. In addition to that, the professor [Bruno Hebling] is so nice; if I had any questions I could write an email, and he would reply quickly.”

In addition to support and a great structure, Caroline also appreciated the many resources she was supplied with. “I could do further research in my own time, as well as a lot of reading.”

Adding Value to Her Company

Caroline’s experience studying SEO with NZIE has allowed her to add valuable skills to her repertoire and use them to benefit her company. She sees this as a crucial skill to have as an immigrant to New Zealand; by showing initiative to her boss to help cut costs and upskill, she knows she will be a valuable member of the company. With her willingness to upskill further, she’s positioning herself to take on more responsibilities and advance her career in marketing.
