Diploma in Digital Marketing Graduate

Abhi’s Background Before Joining NZIE

Before coming to New Zealand, I was doing my Bachelor’s in Technology and Computer Science. While studying, I started to develop some interest in website development, social media marketing, and search engine marketing. After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I researched and came across various courses in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. I then decided to study in New Zealand as it’s a quiet and peaceful country with friendly residents. It also has a lower crime rate compared to the rest of the world. I looked into admission at NZIE as it was the only college offering a Level 7 Digital Marketing cpursee. And since I already had an IT background, I thought this diploma would add some valuable skills to my skill set.

Abhi’s Experience at NZIE

After much consideration, I then decided to come and study Digital Marketing. During the course, you learn many things: content marketing, website development, search engine marketing, and social media marketing. The content and assignments were excellent and promising. The course content was also up-to-date with industry standards. I performed well in the website development course, and I got 99/100. I suppose this is also because it is my speciality. The tutors are great as well, very helpful, and supportive. The thing I enjoyed the most was the learning style, as I never really had or got any hands-on, practical experience in marketing. But the diploma is designed in a way where you not only learn theory, but you also get to put what you learn into practice through your assignments. The Digital Marketing Diploma is great as it also helps set you up for the business world. For instance, you learn how to create professional marketing reports and prepare for presentations.

Abhi’s Journey After NZIE

After my studies completed in December 2018, I did an unpaid internship in Wellington for a company that helps people with speech and voice issues. Over there, I worked as a Content Marketer and Website Developer. I did this internship for three months for 25 hours per week.

After completing my internship, I got a part-time job in Search Engine Optimisation at Action Outdoors Limited. They are an eCommerce store that sells fishing related products. I worked here for 3 to 4 months.

After this role, I got another job offer to work full-time at a company called Divers Group. I started working here in February 2020 and have been working here ever since. This is my first full-time role. Without obtaining the experience, I did, and without having done NZIE’s Diploma, I probably wouldn’t have been able to get a job here. Thanks to NZIE, I am now a Digital Marketing Specialist. Where I look after the company’s website, do social media marketing for them, and handle their social media accounts. I also do content marketing, where I create content strategies and create all the ad copy. Moreover, I handle all the analytics and monitor the website’s performance by using tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and Google Search Console. The work I do now is essentially everything I learned via the Digital Marketing Diploma at NZIE.

Abhi’s Highly Recommended Skill for a Digital Marketer

The one skill I highly recommend for a Digital Marketer is to know about social media marketing and how to implement it in a business. It is seen as one of the most critical skills to have, especially if you’re working for an eCommerce business. This is because one of our main objectives is to generate leads and sales. It’s also important to know how to create content such as infographics and video content as they generate the most engagement on social media.

Abhi’s Future Goals and Plans

I really enjoy and love being a Digital Marketer. I ensure to still keep up with all the Digital Marketing trends by reading the latest blogs, articles and watching videos.

My future plan is to continue working within this field, and I would love to have my own Digital Marketing Agency one day.
