Meet Alexandra Samylova.
Alex is a bright and bubbly graduate of the Diploma in Digital Marketing programme, from NZIE. Following her completion of the course Alex has since landed herself a new role. In particular, Alex managed to secure a Marketing Coordinator position, at a New Zealand financial company Vega.
Originally from Russia, Alex had a different background that wasn’t directly related to Digital Marketing. Such as civil engineering, which she had obtained bachelors degree in. However, in recent years she shifted her career towards digital marketing, with a focus on social media.
“I regularly participated in training courses, attended webinars and read articles about the latest trends in digital marketing. Although it was not enough to raise my awareness in that field.”
Why Alexandra Choose to study with NZIE
According to Alex she carefully chose the Diploma programme because she wanted more than just a qualification. In addition she wanted practical knowledge that she could put into practice at her workplace. The day Alex came across our website was when her decision was made to gain a qualification with us here at NZIE. Furthermore, it was the course ciriculum that caught her attention. For instance the proposed subjects were what piqued her interest.

Alex’s Feedback on the Digital Marketing Course Curriculum
“It covers all areas of digital marketing. Although a specialist in a narrow field is much more sought after, you need to understand how all areas interact with each other. Besides, after study it will be easier to choose which areas you want to develop in. As a graduate, I am confident that this is the best Digital Marketing Course in New Zealand.”
Alex’s key takeaways from the Diploma
“All the knowledge and skills that tutors teach can be implemented on practice and are highly valued in the industry. I fell in love with digital design. Although I was a beginner in Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and Indesign are the primary tools that I use every day at my job. During my course, I have developed eight different marketing campaigns for existing brands. For instance, Noel Leeming, Kathmandu and Whitcoulls. In addition, one of the other outcomes I was able to gain was my Google Ads and Google Analytics certificates.”
I would strongly recommend the Digital Marketing Course to other people, as I’ve learned everything I really needed to know for my job role. As mentioned before, it’s a practical course compared to other digital marketing courses in New Zealand. You’ll be able to use everything you learn and apply it to real-life situations.
From Intern to Employee
“I believe all the Diploma skills helped me secure an intern role, which was advertised by the Student Support Centre at NZIE. Moreover, I started my internship whilst studying, and upon course completion, I already had a signed work agreement.”
As a result of Alex’s dedication, she was promoted to Marketing Coordinator at the same company as her internship.
Role responsibilities include:
- Increasing the online presence of the brand on Social Media Platforms.
- Tracking the performance of Google Search campaigns and reporting about the website’s traffic.
- [My favourite part] Develop visual content for digital ads as well as marketing collateral.
Alex’s Key Advice for Students
“I would highly recommend finding an internship in your last term. Subsequently you will be ready to showcase all your knowledge and skills after studying through terms 1-3 in Digital Marketing. As a result, I found it was most suitable for me due to my lack of existing experience.
Online Remote Learning
Finally, I want to add a couple of words about the online format of classes.
“Almost half of my education was through Zoom classes. On one hand, the atmosphere of the student campus is lost; you can’t share a coffee with your classmate. However, one of the benefits of the online format is the lesson recordings. For instance, I could revisit recordings and double-check certain information. In addition, I learnt how to make online presentations. Also I developed skills on how to efficiently work with the team remotely. Which is a great skill with the current global status across the world.
