Digital marketing graduate Azat

Azat Zalyaev

Diploma in Digital Marketing Graduate

Hi I’m Azat. Upon graduating I was a Digital Marketer and Project Manager for Kiwi Investment Group. Two years later I am now the Head of Marketing. In addition to my job title, I am also a traveller and digital nomad. I’ve been working with Kiwi Investment Group since October 2018. I started the Digital Marketing Course at NZIE at the exact same time.

Digital Marketing Role

As a digital marketer I used to manage all paid ads activity on Facebook, Instagram, Google and other platforms. At Kiwi Business we provide a holistic approach to digital marketing and videography too. In fact, we work closely with local brands and do a lot of work for our groups inside our company. Such as Immigration Agency and Kiwi Education.

Besides managing ads activity, I also created a digital marketing strategy for our companies within the Kiwi Group. I was able to implement the strategy with alongside other supporting specialists. As a project manager I had the chance to launch a start-up project which was an aggregator for tours in New Zealand, for travelling. It was a great opportunity managing it with other experts like copy writers, designers. I enjoy working closely with other specialists in the company.

Studying at NZIE

I really enjoyed the Digital Marketing course at NZIE as I found it quite approachable especially for those who already have existing experience in this industry. As mentioned before, I had already started my Digital Marketing career at Kiwi Group at the same time as the Diploma. Therefore, I used my job in my assignments and assessments. In particular, the web development and design. I felt so much more confident when communicating with website developers and when building client websites. Furthermore, I also enjoyed the guest experts and specialists that were available to NZIE students. I’ve been in Digital Marketing for more than 6 years now but learning from other experienced guest speakers was a highlight.

“I recommend NZIE’s digital marketing diploma if you want to get some hands-on knowledge and practical skills.”

Back in 2018 I was looking for programmes in New Zealand that were Digital marketing courses. I already had some experience but wanted to gain a qualification in it. In addition to gaining some hands-on skills and practical experience. The NZIE course was one of the institution’s that provided the practical hands-on side that I was interested in. Moreover, I really liked the content on the NZIE website because I knew what to expect and what the diploma would be about it. I found NZIE quite accommodating and approachable. Namely, the 1-year course duration it was the perfect length for me too.

Study challenges

At the beginning when I started the course, I did face some challenges. There is an expectation to do a lot of extra homework to stay constantly up to date. Just as it helps you not only during the programme but to also understand how the digitally evolving industry works. In fact, I remember some students without experience did struggle.

Advice for new students

One of my pieces of advice is to not expect that you will learn EVERYTHING in only one year. More so, if you don’t put extra effort into gaining more knowledge from guest experts and tutors. Equally important ask questions, it will help you a lot because that how’s you learn more in-depth.

In Summary

Overall, I would say I had a really good experience studying with NZIE. And I would like to thank my classmates, tutors and Kiwi Education for supporting me on my journey. Lastly, be brave, don’t worry, do your research and focus on what you’re doing and what you want to pursue.
